Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic tests to identify mechanical problems and issues with engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other components.
- Conduct repairs, adjustments, and replacements of faulty parts to restore vehicles to optimal working condition.
- Use specialized diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools to diagnose and address mechanical issues.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and guidelines while conducting repairs and maintenance.
- Interpret repair manuals and technical documentation to guide repair procedures accurately.
- Collaborate with other mechanics and team members to address complex mechanical challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, services performed, and parts used for each vehicle.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new vehicle technologies, and advancements in truck mechanics.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure that all tools and equipment are properly maintained.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and team members.
- Communicate effectively with customers, providing clear explanations of repairs, recommendations, and costs.
- Provide estimates for repair costs and timeframes to customers as requested.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior mechanics, when applicable.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal diesel mechanic program or vocational training is preferred.
- Proven experience as a truck mechanic, with a strong portfolio showcasing your repair work.
- Comprehensive understanding of heavy-duty vehicle systems, engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to interpret repair manuals, technical documents, and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues.
- Effective communication skills to interact with team members and customers.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality mechanical services.
- Physical fitness to perform tasks that may involve lifting, bending, and working in tight spaces.

Tasks
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
- Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
- Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicles and test automotive systems and components
- Repair or replace mechanical units or components
- Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications
- Perform scheduled maintenance service
- Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements
- Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor
