Responsibilities:
- Measure, mark, and lay out surfaces to determine the arrangement of tiles.
- Select and mix adhesives and grout based on the type of tiles and surfaces.
- Cut tiles to the required size using tile cutters or saws, ensuring accurate measurements.
- Apply adhesive to surfaces and carefully set tiles in place, aligning and spacing them evenly.
- Utilize hand tools and equipment to shape tiles around obstacles and create intricate designs.
- Ensure that tiles are level, aligned, and securely adhered to surfaces.
- Install edge tiles and corner pieces to complete the tile design.
- Apply grout to fill gaps between tiles and use a trowel to smooth and finish surfaces.
- Clean and polish tiles to enhance their appearance and remove excess grout.
- Collaborate with designers, architects, and clients to achieve desired patterns and layouts.
- Estimate material quantities and costs for projects and make recommendations to clients.
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and requests with professionalism and courtesy.
- Follow safety protocols and use protective gear to ensure a safe working environment.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, new tile materials, and installation techniques.
- Troubleshoot and address any issues that arise during the installation process.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, both on-site and in the workshop.
- Assist in preparing surfaces for tile installation, including repairing or leveling substrates.
- Document completed projects and maintain records of materials used.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior tile installers, when applicable.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in tilesetting is preferred.
- Proven experience as a tilesetter with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
- Excellent knowledge of different types of tiles, adhesives, and grout.
- Proficiency in using tile-cutting tools, saws, trowels, and other hand tools.
- Attention to detail and an eye for precise measurements and alignment.

Tasks
- Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered
- Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel
- Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to base
- Align and straighten tiles
- Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools
- Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout
- Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles
- Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs
- Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires and brackets
- Cut, surface, polish and install marble and granite
- Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces
