Responsibilities:

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children’s growth and development.
  • Provide attentive and high-quality care for children’s daily needs, including feeding, hygiene, and dressing.
  • Organize and engage children in age-appropriate educational and recreational activities.
  • Plan and implement creative and enriching playtime, arts and crafts, and outings.
  • Assist with homework, school projects, and educational activities.
  • Establish and maintain consistent routines to promote stability and predictability for children.
  • Foster open communication with parents to align on schedules, expectations, and developmental goals.
  • Handle minor medical issues, such as administering prescribed medications or providing first aid.
  • Collaborate with parents to ensure children’s dietary preferences and restrictions are met.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment, including children’s play areas and bedrooms.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children.
  • Encourage positive behaviors and teach social skills, manners, and hygiene practices.
  • Ensure children’s safety at all times, both inside and outside the home.
  • Provide transportation to and from school, activities, and appointments as needed.
  • Assist with light household tasks, such as laundry, dishes, and tidying up common areas.
  • Uphold ethical and professional conduct in all interactions with children and their families.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education. Certification in early childhood education or related fields is a plus.
  • Proven experience in childcare, babysitting, or a similar role.
  • Passion for working with children and creating nurturing and engaging environments.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to interact positively with children and parents.
  • Patience, adaptability, and the ability to handle challenging situations with grace.
  • First aid and CPR certifications are desirable.
  • Knowledge of child development milestones and age-appropriate activities.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license, if required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of the role.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends.

Tasks

  • Assume full responsibility for household in absence of parents
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
  • Shop for food and household supplies
  • Travel with family on trips and assist with child supervision and housekeeping duties
  • Wash, iron and press clothing and household linens
  • Bathe, dress and feed infants and children
  • Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development
  • Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding children
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Organize, activities such as games and outings for children
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals
  • Prepare infants and children for rest periods
  • Sterilize bottles, prepare formulas and change diapers for infants
  • Supervise and care for children
